The UpFront Club
Two Vibrant and Viable Co-operatives
The Boards of the Maple Street Co-operative Society and The Maleny Co-operative Club Limited, after seeking input from members at the last members meeting, have resolved to discontinue the transfer of engagement (the merger of Maple Street Co-op and The UpFront Club). The two co-ops are currently trading well and are viable businesses in their own right; The UpFront Club having worked through its financial difficulties. In line with this we plan to recommence issuing shares in The UpFront Club soon. The Boards are in the process of updating the rules of each co-op. Drafts of the revised rules are available by clicking on the links below. You may have input into this process by providing your feedback to the secretary@maplestreetco-op.com, or writing to the Board of Directors, 37 Maple Street, Maleny, by close of business on the 29th October 2010.
The changes are needed to better reflect our businesses. The Boards have agreed with the recommendation of the Registrar of Co-operatives with the Office of Fair Trading to align ourselves with the standard co-operative rules as revised in July 2010 wherever possible.

Membership - Your Benifits
There are many benefits to being a member of Maple Street Co-operative, including having the opportunity to participate in Co-op activities and receiving a 5% discount on all items you purchase.
To become a member of Maple Street Co-op, you first need to complete and sign an application form and submit it to the Co-op together with $25.00 to cover the price of your share. As soon as your application is approved by the Board of Directors, your share certificate will be forwarded to you.

To continue your membership, you need to pay an annual subscription fee of $22.00, due on 1 July. This fee helps in covering the special costs of operating the Co-op and ensures that you continue receiving a 5% discount on all purchases. Upon paying the annual subscription, you will be issued with a new subscription card. If you pay by mail, your card will be posted back to you directly. To be assured of the discount, you'll need to present your card when making a purchase, but we also have a list of active members at the counter in case you forget to bring it.
Under the Cooperatives Act, we have to cancel your membership if you become unfinancial and 'inactive'.
Maple Street Co-Op Membership
Maple Street Co-op (The Co-op) was established in 1979 and now has over 1700 members. Being a member entitles you to a 5% discount at The Co-op and our sister co-op The UpFront Club. We have new membership bar-coded tags aligned to our Point of Sale (POS) system. A progressive move in progressive times. To become a member you purchase a share for a one off cost of $25 plus $11 for the first years membership; then $22 annual membership thereafter. To remain a member you must pay the annual membership fee. At any time you can apply to redeem your share and receive a refund of the $25.
Did You Know?
MSC stocks over 4,500 health products. MSC injects approximately $5,000 per month back into the local community through our consignors. We are one of the largest employers on the range, employing approximately 40 people between the MSC and The UpFront Club. You can be part of our huge volunteer program – our oldest volunteer is 81. We support local musicians and artists at The UpFront Club.

The new membership cards are now available for collection from the front counter of the Co-Op. Membership are now due and can be paid for when the new membership cards are collected.
